The role

Head of Place & Sustainability
£90,911 to £96,968 [pay award pending from 1st April 2021]

This is a new role in the organisation – one which will be central to the delivery of improved services to our community. You’ll play a leading part in shaping our response to the complex challenges that we face as we support our communities to move forward from the public health crisis that has defined the last 18 months, while ensuring that we continue to strive for our longer-term ambitions for the county.

This role will take the lead on an expansive remit that includes: supporting regeneration priorities, delivery of the net zero carbon agenda, sustainable development and planning, public health and enforcement. It’s an opportunity with enormous scope to make changes that matter, and to harness the potential and talent of others to make things happen. While you’ll need to be able to demonstrate professional expertise in some of the key services within the role’s portfolio it’s your personal presence and way of working that will identify you as the right candidate for this role.

You will bring a successful track record of delivering complex projects on target and at pace, where you demonstrated how you can inspire and empower a talented workforce. We expect innovation grounded in feasibility; we expect leadership that is inspired by vision; and you will be able to transform intention into effective action.

What you achieve will speak volumes about our core values, and will tell everyone that as a Council, we are at their service.
